John länkade till en artikel som liknar Mac-användare med muslimer. Artikelförfattaren gör bl.a jämförelsen att man som muslim alltid måste kolla om maten är godkänd (dvs inte innehåller fläsk och annat), och att man som Mac-användare måste kolla om filer andra skickar till en är Mac-kompatibla.

Om man drar liknelsen längre, är det inte så konstigt att säga att Linux-användare är vegetarianer. Om man på en restaurang säger att man är muslim kan man ändå äta de flesta köttsorterna, samt fisk och ägg. Som vegetarian kan man inte det, och dessutom är det fortfarande mer illa sett. En militant köttätare jag pratade med sade ungefär att "muslimer har religiösa skäl, men veganerna förstår jag inte alls". Jag gissar att samma sak gäller även för OS-liknelsen.

Eftersom Linux är en speciell sorts UNIX, antar jag att det är korrekt att säga att UNIX är hinduer. Linux-användarna fortsätter att vara vegetarianer, men de klär sig i moderna kläder och har inget kastväsende.
